🇬🇧 The film centers on the story of two young people who go from Dakar to Europe. "I'm the Captain!" won Matteo Garrone a total of 12 awards, including "Best Director" at the Venice Film Festival. It is about the efforts of two young men who dream of traveling the world and becoming rap stars, to go from Senegal to Europe. This difficult journey they undertake, like a modern Odyssey, extends from the difficult stage in the desert to the torturous penal camps in Libya and then to the endless seas. At the awards ceremony in Venice, Matteo Garrone handed the microphone to Kouassi Pli Adama Mamadou, the activist who inspired the story; Mamadou dedicated the award to "those who cannot reach". This film, which is Italy's Oscar candidate, was written by interviewing individuals who have experienced this ordeal in order to convey the difficulties experienced by immigrants from their eyes, and aims to reflect to the audience from their perspective what happened to them along the way rather than the destination.
